SUMMARY:Journal Club - Sweeteners: Natural and Artificial
DESCRIPTION:Morning Journal Club – Study Group \nKAND Journal Club has been in existence for over 40 years\, meeting in members’ homes once a month for 2 hours each from October to May\, except December.  In May\, we decide on topics for the next year and apply for prior approval over the summer.  Participants search for articles on the topic and everyone adds to the discussion.  We use JADA articles\, Mayo Clinic Proceedings\, Nutrition Newsletters (e.g. Tufts)\, NY Times Science Section and ADA information\, plus the internet. \nTopics have included Metabolic Syndrome\, Diabetes—all aspects\, Food Safety\, Cancer Prevention\, Nutrition Guidelines\, Eating Disorders\, Childhood Obesity\, etc. We welcome anyone member who would like to participate. \nChairman: Joan Dow Scott\, M.S.\, LPN \nAttendance & RSVP: 2 CEU’s available per session. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Knoxville Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics on Friday March 3rd\, 2017 from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM EST for our annual Legislative Breakfast at the Tomato Head West\, 7240 Kingston Pike #172 Knoxville\, TN 37919. \nThis is an opportunity for you to engage in learning and in informal discussions with local legislators. This year the breakfast will focus on efforts in improving healthy food access in local food deserts. \nStarting at 8:45 AM EST we will have 2 short presentations by Ms. Fiona McAnally\, Chair of the Knoxville-Knox County Food Policy Council and Mr. Ben Epperson\, Healthy Communities Project Manager for the Great Schools Partnership. Following the presentation\, you will have the opportunity to hear from\, and dialog with\, local legislators in attendance.  All legislators representing Knoxville have been invited to attend. \nFor dietitians in attendance\, CEUs are available for the event. \nPlease email eatrightknox@gmail.com if you have any questions. \nUse the form below to register and make a breakfast selection.
