DESCRIPTION:In honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month\, Lisa Kocak from the Tennessee Department of Health will be speaking on Diabetes Prevention and Awareness in the Community. \nLisa has a B.S. in Health Education from the State University of New York\, College at Cortland and her Masters of Arts and Social Sciences from the State University of New York\, College at Binghamton.  She started her career as a Certified Medical Assistant in the medical field and went on to pursue her current career in public health.  She has worked at the local public health level and transitioned into the state level of public health.  She worked as a Public Health Educator and Public Information Officer at the Tioga County Health Department in Owego\, New York and a Health Program Specialist at Metro Public Health Department in Nashville.  Lisa is currently a Program Director at the Tennessee Department of Health in the Chronic Disease division.  Kocak also teaches Medical Assisting courses at South College in Tennessee. \n

Jordan began her education at UT and graduated from the nutrition program with a bachelor’s in science. During her time at UT  she developed a passion for nursing and went on to obtain a Master’s of science in nursing from Vanderbilt University.
